The Williams Field Black Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell 47-36 to Salpointe Catholic. While losing is never fun, Williams Field can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Salpointe Catholic is ranked eighth).
Several Black Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Savanah Horotn, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sophia Carnes, who scored 11 points.
Hannah Williams was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds for Salpointe Catholic. The contest was Williams' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Even, who scored 17 points along with 3 steals.
Williams Field's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Salpointe Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.
Williams Field will be playing in front of their home fans against Notre Dame Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Notre Dame Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday. Salpointe Catholic's road trip will continue as they head out to face Rio Rico at 6:00 p.m. on November 30th. Rio Rico will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
