Softball Recap: Crookston Wins Going Away Against Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal

Crookston hadn't done well against Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Titans. Considering the Pirates have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Emily Bowman made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Bowman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Crookston got a massive performance out of Rilynn Aubol, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That double marked the first that Aubol has hit this season. Allysen Wagner was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

With the victory, Crookston broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6. As for Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crookston will square off against East Grand Forks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Green Wave's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal, they will welcome Fertile-Beltrami at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.9 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
