The Mt. Morris Panthers pushed their score all the way to 67 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 76-67 to Durand. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (57), Mt. Morris still had to take the loss.
It was another big night for Markell Tate, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds for Durand. It was the first time this season that Tate pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Levi Smith, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds.
Mt. Morris has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Durand, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.
Mt. Morris' homestand continues as they prepare to take on Hill-McCloy at 7:00 p.m. on February 16th. Durand's road trip will continue as they head out to face Webberville at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. One thing working in Webberville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
