The Woodruff Wolverines and the Boiling Springs Bulldogs will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Woodruff is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.
Woodruff will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 24 points on Friday, then bounced right back against High Point Academy on Saturday. Woodruff took their match with ease, bagging a 68-23 win over High Point Academy. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 30 points or more this season.
Woodruff's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jensyn Turner, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards. Turner is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Robinson, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 21 points and six steals.
Woodruff smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Boiling Springs had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 39-27 victory over Spartanburg Christian Academy on Saturday.
Boiling Springs found their leader in sophomore Makenzie Kinard, who posted 19 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Kinard has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Karina Tsisun, who had six points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Boiling Springs' win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Woodruff, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Woodruff has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Boiling Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Woodruff didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Boiling Springs in their previous matchup back in November, but they still walked away with a 41-35 win. Will Woodruff repeat their success, or does Boiling Springs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
