The Cushing Bearkats will head out on the road to face off against the Tenaha Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Cushing was just a hair shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Carlisle. Cushing has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Tenaha had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They beat Alto by the very same score they won with last week: 55-20. The result was nothing new for Tenaha, who have now won three matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Tenaha's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kamarion Ross, who picked up 108 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Reese also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Tenaha's victory bumped their season record to 6-2 while Cushing's loss dropped theirs to 3-4.
Cushing skirted past Tenaha 23-20 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cushing since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
