The Alhambra Moors will head out on the road to face off against the San Gabriel Matadors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
There was early excitement for Alhambra after they claimed the first score on Thursday, but it was Montebello who ended up claiming the real prize. Alhambra fell just short of Montebello by a score of 17-14. Alhambra has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Although Alhambra took the loss, they still got scores from Julian Venegas Khavari and Adan Duenas fregoso.
Meanwhile, San Gabriel had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They strolled past Bell Gardens with points to spare, taking the game 34-16.
Alhambra's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for San Gabriel, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-4.
Alhambra came up short against San Gabriel in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 28-17. Can Alhambra avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
