The Franklin Road Christian Minutemen suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of Zion Christian Academy by a score of 77-75. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Minutemen players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Pence, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 38.7% of Franklin Road Christian's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Walker, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Franklin Road Christian and nudges their season record down to 14-8. As for Zion Christian Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10.
Franklin Road Christian the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Franklin Classical School at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Zion Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Riverside Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside Christian Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
