The Savannah Country Day Hornets entered their tilt with the Beach Bulldogs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Savannah Country Day walked away with a 48-41 win over Beach on Friday. Given Savannah Country Day's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Beach is ranked 365th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Beach saw an underclassman step up: Mariah Reid scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. That was a full 63.4% of Beach's points, marking the 21st time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Aziyria Phillips was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Savannah Country Day is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Beach, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-14.
