Given The Pingry School's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Seton Hall Prep is ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Seton Hall Prep's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Ante, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Ante scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Guzzardo, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
The Pingry School pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for Seton Hall Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
The Pingry School will take on Delaware Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Seton Hall Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Arts at 7:00 p.m.
