Clover and Dorman are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Clover has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Clover heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Friday. They fell just short of James F. Byrnes by a score of 4-3. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Rebels: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dorman, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Rock Hill a 10-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Cavaliers have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Makenzie Rapalee tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Aubri George was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Clark, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Dorman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in seven consecutive contests.
Dorman's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-13. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Clover, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-8.
Clover skirted past Dorman 6-4 in their previous matchup on Wednesday. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cavaliers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
