Basketball Recap: Breathitt County Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Breathitt County entered their tilt with Letcher County Central on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the Letcher County Central Cougars / Lady Cougars 67-48. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bobcats also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Breathitt County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Austin Sperry, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine assists. Sperry's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Braxton Terry, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

Sperry wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Breathitt County was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Breathitt County pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Letcher County Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Breathitt County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 79-59 victory against Wolfe County on the 9th. Letcher County Central has also already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Jenkins on the 6th.
