Jillian DeYoung made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Sienna Stilley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Kaylee Blocker was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Griffith put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Hammond Bishop Noll. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 16 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Hanover Central, Griffith also got a great game from a two-way player: Brylie Bridges. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Bridges was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie Vianello, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Camryn Young, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Hanover Central's record is now 22-6. As for Griffith, their record now sits at 25-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Hanover Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Griffith struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hanover Central couldn't quite finish off Griffith when the teams last played back in April and fell 7-5. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
