The Fort Bend Dulles Vikings lost against the George Ranch Longhorns back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Fort Bend Dulles took a serious blow against George Ranch, falling 41-14. While losing is never fun, Fort Bend Dulles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 735th, while George Ranch is ranked 234th).
Fort Bend Dulles' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carter Truscott, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a touchdown. Truscott's longest reception was for an incredible 98 yards.
Leading George Ranch to victory were Jaden Shelton and Deion Drinkard. Shelton rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown, while Drinkard threw for 172 yards and three touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes. Shelton is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Drinkard, who gained 125 total yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Fort Bend Dulles to a paltry 215 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to George Ranch's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Cody Ford and his two sacks.
This is the second loss in a row for Fort Bend Dulles and nudges their season record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Fort Bend Hightower (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 82.6% over those games). As for George Ranch, their win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Fort Bend Elkins the next time they take the field. Fort Bend Dulles will host Fort Bend Elkins at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th, while George Ranch will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on November 4th.
