Basketball Game Preview: Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles vs. Sports Leadership & Management Bulls

Two dominant guards in Michael Ahern and Alaijah Young are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles will jump right back in to play the Sports Leadership & Management Bulls at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Capistrano Valley Christian's tournament run continued when they took on Farrington on Friday. Capistrano Valley Christian claimed a resounding 69-18 victory over Farrington. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season.

Capistrano Valley Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ahern out in front who went 6 for 10 on his way to 19 points and five steals. That's the most steals Ahern has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaunt Kechejian, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Capistrano Valley Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Sports Leadership & Management beat Reynolds 67-63 on Wednesday.

Capistrano Valley Christian better keep an eye on Young. He was instrumental in Sports Leadership & Management's win, going 8 of 17 on his way to 26 points and six rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Young has scored at least a third of Sports Leadership & Management's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavior Ventura, who posted 11 points and three blocks.

Sports Leadership & Management now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
