Basketball Recap: Rincon/University Beats Marana for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Rincon/University extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Leila O'Dowd. The Rincon/University Rangers blew past the Marana Tigers 55-33 on Friday thanks in part to O'Dowd, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Rincon/University's points.

Arielle Kuwawu was another key player, putting up two points and three steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Marana lost, don't look at Adrian Griffin. Despite the final result, she posted ten points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Malaysia Roebuck, who put up seven points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Rincon/University is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.1 points per game. As for Marana, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-13.

Rincon/University has already played their next matchup, a 46-43 victory against Sunnyside on the 28th. As for Marana, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-42 loss against Tucson High Magnet School on the 28th.
