The Winters Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Durham Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Winters is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Winters will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Paradise, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Warriors came out on top against the Bobcats by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday.
Ava Estepa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Winters let Teagan Garcia and Aylin Molina run wild. Garcia went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Molina went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Molina has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Erika Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Winters was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paradise only posted a batting average of .125.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Durham was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They lost 9-1 to East Nicolaus. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Trojans have suffered since May 20, 2025.
Durham saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashley Spence, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Durham's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8. As for Winters, their win bumped their record up to 12-13.
Winters couldn't quite finish off Durham in their previous matchup last Monday and fell 5-3. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
