He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Andrew Cohill and Matt Hornburg did most of the damage at the plate: Cohill scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Hornburg went 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Thunderbird was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Agua Fria only posted a batting average of .368.
The win made it two in a row for Thunderbird and bumps their season record up to 5-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 13.5 hits in those games compared to only 5.4 in the others. As for Cesar Chavez, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cesar Chavez hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. However, it's not like Thunderbird struggles in that department as they've averaged .348. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
