Baker County is on a 14-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Montverde Academy is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wildcats will host the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Tuesday, Baker County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Middleburg.
Grace Masterson looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nasia Green was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Baleigh Shields, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Baker County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Middleburg struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Montverde Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past Tampa Catholic 3-1. Three seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Missy Odom made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 20 over ten innings pitched. Odom was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
Odom wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mylah Cardona, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Montverde Academy's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Baker County, their win bumped their record up to 17-0.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Baker County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Montverde Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Baker County came up short against Montverde Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2025, falling 5-2. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
