Marshall Academy fell to Will Carleton Academy 17-13. Marshall Academy has struggled against Will Carleton Academy recently, as their match on Saturday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Marshall Academy saw an underclassman step up: Malia Taylor scored eight points along with eight steals. That was a full 61.5% of Marshall Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Amiah Poindexter was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.
Marshall Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Will Carleton Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall Academy will take on Pansophia Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Will Carleton Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Bellevue at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bellevue comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
