The Asotin Panthers are on the road again on Monday to play the Orofino Maniacs at 4:00 p.m. Both teams have allowed few runs on average, (Asotin: 2.9, Orofino: 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Asotin can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Saturday. Everything went their way against Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna as Asotin made off with a 16-1 victory.
ZANE RILEY made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. RILEY was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and a double.
In other batting news, Asotin got a massive performance out of NOAH KOEHLER, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. CODY ELLS was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Orofino had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Wildcats. Despite the victory, that was the fewest runs Orofino has scored all year.
Asotin's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6. As for Orofino, their victory bumped their record up to 15-1-1.
