The North Shelby Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Canton Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Shelby will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while the Tigers are ranked 156th).
Last Wednesday, North Shelby was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-38 to the Tigers. North Shelby has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Canton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top against Putnam County by a score of 80-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Preston Brewer was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Alspaw, who scored 19 points.
North Shelby has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Canton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
North Shelby came up short against the Tigers when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 49-45. Can North Shelby avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
