Downey had won two straight games and Madeline Garcia did her part to make it three on Wednesday. The Vikings blew past the Millikan Rams, posting a 42-0 victory for which the team can thank Garcia, who threw for 325 yards and four TDs while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 41 yards and one score. Her passing game has become a key predictor of Downey's success: the team is 3-1 when her passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

One reason for the win was Downey's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Caroline Cortez was especially locked on to Millikan's QB and sacked her three times.

Downey now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Millikan, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Downey has already played their next match, a 54-0 win against JW North on the 23rd. As for Millikan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 34-0 loss against Huntington Beach on the 21st.
