Girard is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Poland Seminary is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Indians will challenge the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Girard will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating South Range, who they had gone 0-7 against in their seven prior meetings. The Indians put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 56-35 victory on Friday. With the Indians ahead 28-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Girard's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from AJ Pearson, who threw for 351 yards and six TDs while completing 86.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 65 yards. Those six passing touchdowns gave Pearson a new career-high. Girard's leading receiver Mario Lipinski was Pearson's top target yet again, picking up 197 receiving yards and three scores.
Girard didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Braxton Sloan and Pearson. Another thorn in South Range's side was Allen Hess-Cardona, who made 14 total tackles.
Meanwhile, Poland Seminary was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past McKinley 42-6. The Bulldogs' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Poland Seminary found their leader in sophomore David Xipolitas, who threw for 170 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 45 yards and one TD.
Girard's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Poland Seminary, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Girard has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 245.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Poland Seminary struggles in that department as they've been averaging 199.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
