The Monrovia Bulldogs will take on the Park Tudor Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Park Tudor took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Monrovia, who comes in off a win.
Monrovia saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top against Southmont by a score of 2-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Ciara Elliott and Mia Bain were among the main playmakers for Monrovia as the former had six digs and two aces and the latter had four aces. That's the most aces Bain has posted over her last six matchups.
They weren't the only good servers: Monrovia was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Park Tudor came up short against Lawrence Central on Thursday and fell 3-1.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-27, 25-14, 25-12.
Monrovia will need to focus on slowing down Layla Trammel, one of several Park Tudor players who made an impact when they last played. She had 11 digs and two assists.
Monrovia's win bumped their record up to 10-20. As for Park Tudor, they dropped their record down to 14-11 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Monrovia has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Park Tudor struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
