Diamond proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the West County Bulldogs. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.
Talyn Daniels was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Ball, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Daniels wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Diamond lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Diamond's win bumped their record up to 16-1. As for West County, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 9-2 record.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Diamond will challenge Lamar at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West County, they will host Scott City at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
