Basketball Recap: Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Antonio Castro and Dimitris Galiatsos

Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy was the 68-64 winner over Riverdale when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy Swamp Owls fell 74-62 to the Riverdale Rebels on Friday.

Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Dimitris Galiatsos and Antonio Castro. Galiatsos dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards, while Castro went 9 of 16 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. The match was Galiatsos' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Goodwin, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 17 points.

Even though they lost, Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Riverdale, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

After both having extra time off, Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy and Sumner will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Riverdale, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Livingston Collegiate Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
