Case and Old Rochester Regional are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Cardinals will face off against the Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Case has three straight wins, Old Rochester Regional has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Case barely beat Westport the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals blew past the Wildcats 10-3 on Tuesday. The Cardinals not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 21st (when they won 10-1).

Aedan Borges made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zachary Kern, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Lucas Saltmarsh was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Old Rochester Regional's offense. They lost 12-0 to Somerset Berkley Regional on Monday.
Case's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-10. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Old Rochester Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Everything went Case's way against Old Rochester Regional in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Case made off with a 15-0 victory. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
