Basketball Recap: Eno River Academy Comes Up Short

Eno River Academy lost against Voyager Academy two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Eno River Academy Bobcats took a blow against the Voyager Academy Vikings, falling 87-53. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 489th, while the Vikings are ranked 209th).

Eno River Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cole Creedle, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Sammer Day, who posted ten points.

Even though they lost, Eno River Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Voyager Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was McKinley Hemsley, who went 6-for-8 to rack up 12 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Hemsley a new career-high in field goal percentage (75%). Will Cameron was another key player, going 6-for-13 on his way to 15 points along with eight boards and four steals.

Eno River Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. As for Voyager Academy, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-6.

Eno River Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-67 loss against Vance Charter on the 14th. As for Voyager Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 86-49 win against Excelsior Classical Academy on the 17th.
