The Mount Si Wildcats will take on the Tahoma Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mount Si 3.9, Tahoma 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Mount Si is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Newport - Bellevue on Wednesday as they made off with a 10-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their one-run performance the match before.
Jacob Hayes looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Mount Si let Chase Mentink and Jimmy Pratapas run wild. Mentink scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Pratapas scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave Mentink a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Talbot, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Tahoma entered their tilt with Mt. Rainier on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Rams get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since April 22, 2024.
Bryson Leach looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Andrew Dyk was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
Mount Si pushed their record up to 8-4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Tahoma, their win bumped their record up to 7-3-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mount Si has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tahoma struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
