CIBOLO, Texas - A 28-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter didn't slow down
Steele (Cibolo, Texas) as it put 13 more points on the scoreboard to secure its victory over Carroll (Corpus Christi, Texas) 44-3.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Justin Stockton in the first quarter, the Knights were up 28-0 at the half.
Each side put up three points during the third quarter, and at the beginning of the fourth it was still a 28 point game.
A big 28-point first quarter helped Steele secure the win. SHS scored on a Stockton touchdown run, a touchdown run by Stockton, a touchdown pass by
LG Williams to
D'Angelo Wallace and a Williams touchdown run in the quarter.
Steele's standout player in the win was
Emmanuel Hulbin. He kicked one field goal and five extra points.
The Knights entered the contest giving up 19.0 points per game this year.
The defeat comes as a step back for Carroll, who notched a 42-35 victory over Southwest in its previous outing. The loss snapped Carroll's two-game winning streak.
Steele (8-1) goes up against Southwest in a 5A Region IV District 28 game matchup next week, while Carroll (3-5) locks horns with South San Antonio also in a 5A Region IV District 28 game.
