For the second straight game, Avon will face off against Hamilton Southeastern. The Orioles will face off against the Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Avon has seven straight wins, Hamilton Southeastern has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Avon beats Hamilton Southeastern with 14 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Orioles' pitchers stepped up to hand the Royals a 14-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Orioles have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Carter Beck looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Clayton Lenz and Wyatt Pennington did most of the damage at the plate: Lenz went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Pennington went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Lenz has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Keegan Grubbs, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Avon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive contests.
Avon's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hamilton Southeastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
Hamilton Southeastern's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Avon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for Hamilton Southeastern, though, as they've only averaged .226. Will they be able to contain Avon's hitters?
