Softball Recap: Warren Woods-Tower Wins Going Away Against New Haven

Warren Woods-Tower had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt New Haven on Thursday. The Titans were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Rockets. The Titans not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22nd (when they won 13-2).

Aislinn Lipar was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Iris Everett, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Atiana Guzman, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Warren Woods-Tower was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Haven only posted a batting average of .125.

Warren Woods-Tower's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for New Haven, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Warren Woods-Tower will welcome Hazel Park at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.63 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for New Haven, they will take on L'Anse Creuse at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
