Jamestown is 0-10 against New Kent since May of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Eagles will welcome the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Jamestown will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Jamestown took an eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against York, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles skirted past the Falcons 7-6.
Tenley Medlin was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Medlin was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025.
Medlin wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Josie Hughes, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, New Kent fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Grafton on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Clippers by a score of 14-13. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Trojans, who until this contest were averaging four runs allowed.
Ava Brandon led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall White, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.
Jamestown's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-4. As for New Kent, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jamestown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like New Kent struggles in that department as they've averaged .371. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
