The Utopia Buffaloes entered their tilt with the Junction Eagles with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Utopia sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-52 win over Junction on Tuesday. For Utopia, this counts as revenge for the 73-63 loss Junction walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2022.
Taylor Wiekamp was a one-man wrecking crew for Utopia as he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Wiekamp has scored at least 25% of Utopia's points. Charlie Leman was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 8 rebounds.
Utopia's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Junction, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Utopia is on the road again on Thursday and play against D'Hanis at 10:00 a.m. on November 30th. Junction will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Grape Creek at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th.
