After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three contests, The Clarke Central Gladiators finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They fell 14-7 to Eastside. Clarke Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Eastside apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Chase Berrong threw for 199 yards and a touchdown. Jaden Cofer was his top target, picking up 68 receiving yards. On the ground, Kendrick Curry rushed for 51 yards on only six carries.
Leading Eastside to victory were Marion Eubanks and Jayden Barr. Eubanks picked up 83 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Barr gained 126 total yards and a touchdown.
Clarke Central's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Eastside, Loganville, and Jefferson. As for Eastside, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Coincidentally, Clarke Central and Eastside will both be playing Winder-Barrow the next time they take the field. Eastside will head out to face Winder-Barrow at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th, while Clarke Central will host them at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd.
