The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Knoxville Central came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Campbell County is ranked 260th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Campbell County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gavin Cox, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Luke Browning was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Knoxville Central has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Campbell County, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.
Knoxville Central will head out on the road to face off against Halls at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Campbell County, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Oak Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. One thing working in Oak Ridge's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 14 contests.
