Stamford is 7-2 against Darien since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Stamford Black Knights will be playing at home against the Darien Blue Wave at 7:00 p.m. Stamford will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Stamford strolled past Bridgeport Central with points to spare, taking the game 63-46. Given Stamford's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Bridgeport Central is ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stamford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ejai Presley, who scored 18 points along with two steals and two blocks. Presley has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Winchester, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Darien pushed their score all the way to 69 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 70-69 to Wilton. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Tuesday (59), Darien still had to take the loss.
Stamford's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Darien, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Stamford won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, slipping by Darien 46-45. Will Stamford repeat their success, or does Darien have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
