It was a good run, but Columbia unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the West Essex Knights by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 9-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Columbia's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for West Essex, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-4.

Looking ahead, Columbia will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Peter's Prep at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Marauders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. West Essex has already played their next matchup (against Passaic Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
