Merced has gone a perfect 3-0 against Gregori recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Merced Bears will square off against the Gregori Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Merced barely beat Golden Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Merced never let Golden Valley get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Bears, who have now won three contests in a row.
Haiden Priddell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Madison Cabral was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Antonia Lejarde also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Gregori entered their tilt with Pitman on Thursday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Pride 12-2. That's two games straight that the Jaguars have won by exactly ten runs.
Angelina Hoffman was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of NeVaeh Scheper, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Merced pushed their record up to 7-2-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Gregori, their record now sits at 8-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Merced has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gregori struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Merced skirted past Gregori 7-6 when the teams last played back in March of 2019. Will Merced repeat their success, or does Gregori have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
