Scottsburg gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They really took it to the Madison Cubs for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-0 win. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Warriors had established a 27-point advantage.
Scottsburg can attribute much of their success to Nathan Byrd, who threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns. What's more, Byrd racked up 136.4 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Landon Shuck helped Byrd out on the ground, rushing for 77 yards and one score.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Scottsburg's defense and their three sacks. Jacob June was especially locked on to Madison's QB and sacked him twice.
