The Carver Tigers put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Thomasville 72-39 at home. Carver has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Tony Montgomery, who scored 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Champ Simpson, who scored 16 points along with two blocks.
Despite the defeat, Thomasville had strong showings from Xavier Burkes jr., who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Nigel Pittman, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Burkes jr. has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.
Carver's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.1 points. As for Thomasville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Carver and Monroe will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Thomasville, they will head out on the road to challenge Brooks County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Brooks County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday.
