Tri-Valley has gone a perfect 7-0 against Ridgeview recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Vikings will host the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Tri-Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over LeRoy on Monday. The Vikings have beaten the Panthers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.
Ethan Moore was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Cade Danko was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Tri-Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Ridgeview made sure to put some runs up on the board against Gardner-South Wilmington on Tuesday. The Mustangs blew past the Panthers 10-2. Considering the Mustangs have won five games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Max Mason and Cole Kennedy were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Mason struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Meanwhile, Kennedy tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At the plate, Mason scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Kennedy scored a run while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Landon Ludwig and Ben Crowley did most of the damage at the plate: Ludwig scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Crowley went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Those two runs gave Ludwig a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Neuhaus, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Tri-Valley pushed their record up to 8-1-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Ridgeview, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4-1 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tri-Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ridgeview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Tri-Valley took their victory against Ridgeview in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-3 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
