Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Hillcrest Hawks, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 42-12 loss at the hands of Providence Catholic on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Hillcrest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Providence Catholic is ranked 33rd).
When it comes to explaining why Hillcrest lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gary Bradley. Despite the final result, he threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
Hillcrest has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. As for Providence Catholic, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-4.
Hillcrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Providence Catholic is on the road again on Saturday and play against Highland at 3:00 p.m. on November 11th. Highland has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 365 points over their last eight games.
