The Tillamook Cheesemakers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 61-40 walloping at the hands of Astoria. While losing is never fun, Tillamook can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Fishermen are ranked ninth).
Several Cheesemakers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aubrey Hilton, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Adrian Vogel was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Tillamook struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Tillamook has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Astoria, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 12-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tillamook will take on the Seagulls at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Astoria, they and the Lions will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Helens is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
