Basketball Recap: University's Win Ends Nine-Game Losing Streak at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Smyrna Beach, University was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Halifax Academy Knights with a sharp 69-45 victory. That 24 point margin sets a new team best for the Titans this season.

University's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxson Harris, who posted ten points and five boards. Harris has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Joshua Houlker, who had 12 points.

University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

University's victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-3. As for Halifax Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

University didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-58 win against Pine Ridge on the 13th. As for Halifax Academy, they will host Florida School for the Deaf & Blind at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Halifax Academy's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Florida School for the Deaf & Blind has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
