Mayfield hasn't had much luck against Canajoharie recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Panthers will head out to face off against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Mayfield has given up an average of 15.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Mayfield is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against Middleburgh, falling 14-2.

Cubby Roth (C) was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Roth (C) is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Benjamin Wicklund also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canajoharie). They were the clear victors by a 28-4 margin over Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons on Monday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.
Conner Mueller looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Aiden Bowerman was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and three doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Hyney, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Canajoharie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Mayfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Canajoharie, their record now sits at 5-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mayfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Canajoharie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mayfield skirted past Canajoharie 6-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
