Cardinal Gibbons had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Leesville Road on Thursday. Cardinal Gibbons put the hurt on Leesville Road with a sharp 13-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Max Boyatt tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since March 4th.

At the plate, Jakub Mudd was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Bryce Fitzsimmons was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
Cardinal Gibbons was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Cary came up short against Middle Creek on Thursday and fell 8-3.
Cary also got a good showing from Logan Joyce, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Joyce has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cary saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skylan Joyner, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another was Owen Green, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Cardinal Gibbons' victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Cary, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Cary's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cardinal Gibbons has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. It's a different story for Cary, though, as they've only averaged .361. Will they be able to contain Cardinal Gibbons' hitters?
