Chicago Hope Academy will square off against the Latin Romans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Chicago Hope Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Farragut a 14-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Chicago Hope Academy.
Roberto Rey Jr. and Cesar Marquez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Rey Jr. pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Marquez tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rey Jr. has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Rey Jr. went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Marquez went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four RBI gave Marquez a new career-high.

In other batting news, Eric Delgado was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taiga Deloney, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Chicago Hope Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Farragut only posted an OBP of .300.
Meanwhile, Latin made easy work of Lisle on Wednesday and carried off a 17-4 victory. The matchup marked the Romans' most dominant win of the season.
Karim Patterson and Liam Calvert did most of the damage at the plate: Patterson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Calvert got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Gavin Addison, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Latin is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Chicago Hope Academy, they pushed their record up to 24-12 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Chicago Hope Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Latin when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chicago Hope Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
