Lee Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 59-38 to the Midland Mustangs. One positive for the Cougars, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Riley Pruitt was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards for Midland. Pruitt has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Caleb Webb, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points in addition to five assists and five boards.
Lee Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Midland, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lee Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Calhoun Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Midland, they will venture away from home to face off against Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bradford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Midland likes a good challenge.
