The Romulus Eagles stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They blew past Thurston 80-16 at home. Romulus' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Romulus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karma Jones-Johnson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten steals. Jones-Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Samaira Searcy, who almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds.
The win was the sixth in a row for Romulus, bringing their record for this year to 12-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points per game. As for Thurston, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7.
Romulus will head out on the road to square off against Garden City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Romulus is coming into the matchup with five straight wins on the road, meaning Garden City will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Thurston, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Melvindale at 6:00 p.m.
